The Abundance Co-Creator Guide
Hey, it’s Zaje’.
I want to tell you a little story of the Lumberjack.
There was once a lumberjack who prided himself on his strength and work ethic. Every day, he would rise at dawn, pick up his axe, and cut trees without pause until the sun went down. At first, his progress was impressive – tree after tree fell, and his pile of lumber grew. He even felt that as he cut each tree, he was growing stronger and faster with every swing.
But over time, the work became harder. Each swing of the axe seemed less effective, and no matter how much effort he put in, how strong he felt, or how fast he tried to go, he couldn’t cut as many trees as he used to. Frustrated, he pushed himself harder, swinging faster and with more force, but the results only worsened. What used to take one swing to bring down the tree was now taking two, three, four, or more.
One day, an old man passing by stopped to watch. The lumberjack didn’t even notice him sitting there, and he watched him for quite some time. After a while, he said, “Why don’t you take a break and sharpen your axe?”
The lumberjack scoffed. “I don’t have time to sharpen my axe! Can’t you see I’m too busy cutting down trees?”
The old man smiled and replied, “But if you take a bit of time to sharpen your axe, I think you’ll find that you cut more trees with less effort.” And with that, the old man kept going on his way.
Reluctantly, the lumberjack stopped and looked at his axe. What used to be a sharp blade was a rounded edge, scraped and dull. He then noticed his arms, back, and legs felt more tired than they used to feel, when he first started cutting these trees. So he went to his wood shop and spent time sharpening his blade. It took him quite a few hours to get the blade back to the sharp edge that it used to be. Day fell into night, so he put the axe down, went to his cabin, and made dinner with tea to help him sleep. And he slept good knowing his work tomorrow would be different.
When he returned to his work, he was amazed. With each swing, the trees fell easily again. The effort he had to put in just yesterday was so much less that he cut more trees than he had ever cut in one day’s work. He made sure to take the time to look at his axe every day after that, and he took care to keep it in tip-top shape!
The Lesson
The axe represents our nervous system, and the trees symbolize the challenges and habits we try to tackle daily. And yeah, challenges sometimes come at us on a daily basis. Sometimes, that’s life. When we push ourselves without pause – living in fight-or-flight mode – we dull our ability to handle life’s demands effectively.
Resetting your frequency and getting in FOCUS – through rest, breathwork, or habits that ground you – is how you “sharpen your axe.” It’s not wasted time at all! It’s the key to achieving more with greater ease and balance. You could never waste your time by caring for your Self.
Stop trying to cut down every tree with an axe that might as well be a butter knife. You don’t have to fix, fight, or force your way through life to prove your strength. I know you feel stuck sometimes, like your circumstances are too heavy to shift – but here’s the truth: small, intentional changes will unlock everything you’re looking for.
What you don’t realize yet is that the environment around you (those external factors like constant stress, negative relationships, or even the endless noise of social media) is keeping you in a low-frequency state. It’s not just in your mind; it’s in your body. Your nervous system has been in fight-or-flight mode for so long that it feels normal to live this way. But here’s the thing: the more you’re in it, the deeper you get stuck.
When your body is stuck in survival mode, everything feels harder. Your thoughts race, your emotions feel heavy, and it’s almost impossible to think clearly or find joy. But you can get out of it. And it starts with giving yourself permission to get in focus.
Five core steps make up the FOCUS Framework: Find your truth, Own your role, Choose your Self, Use what you have, and Show up. Start by breathing. Deep, intentional breaths signal to your nervous system that it’s safe to relax. From there, take small, steady steps to change the energy around you. That might look like setting boundaries with people who drain you, spending less time in overstimulating spaces, or choosing one moment of calm to anchor your day.
Low-frequency environments don’t have to define you. You can create an inner frequency that rises above them. It’s not about controlling everything outside of you—it’s about mastering what’s within. You might notice people you care about around you becoming uncomfortable with your new way of dealing with things. Those people might not like it, and might cause more of the low frequencies that trigger your nervous system’s old response to dealing with it. Let that be your 🚩 and release those people and environments.
And don’t underestimate the power of habits. Those tiny, consistent decisions—like noticing people’s actions on their journey when it doesn’t match your new frequency, journaling your thoughts and feelings, moving your body, or practicing gratitude—help you rebuild your nervous system and shift you out of survival mode into a place of balance and clarity.
You’ll get there. Just take one small step at a time.”
If this resonates with you, maybe it’s exactly what you needed to hear today too. Remember: resetting isn’t about starting over—it’s about reclaiming the peace and joy that’s always been yours.
What’s one thing you’d tell your old self if you could? Or maybe one low-frequency factor you’re ready to release? I’d love to know—just hit reply and share with me.
